House Small Business Committee Chairman Donald Manzullo (R-IL),
invited small business owners who use steel to testify before
the Committee on market conditions since the imposition of
30% tariffs on steel in March by the Bush Administration.
Downstream, small business owners in the U.S. are facing extensive
lead times, supply shortages including those created
by domestic mills putting customers on allocation broken
contracts with suppliers and skyrocketing prices. These problems
have created an unsustainable business environment for small
steel-consuming firms who, heretofore, have been globally
competitive and steady sources of economic and job growth
in their communities.
