Employment considered shrimp-consuming is based on the share of the workforce devoted to shrimp in the following sectors: seafood product preparation and packaging (part-NAICS 3117), fish and seafood merchant wholesalers (NAICS 424460), grocery stores (NAICS 4451), fish and seafood markets (NAICS 44522), warehouse clubs and supercenters (NAICS 45291), refrigerated warehousing and storage (NAICS 493120), and food service places (NAICS 722 less 7224).

Shrimp-producing employment is based on the share of the workforce devoted to shrimp in the following sectors: shellfish farming (NAICS 112512), shellfish fishing (NAICS 114112), seafood product preparation and packaging (part-NAICS 3117).
